Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A man was found dead in the City of Jackson on Sunday (March 22) afternoon, and authorities with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) have labeled the death as “suspicious.”
JPD Chief Christopher A Simpson announced that at 1:30 p.m. on March 22, officers from the JPD responded to the 300 block of W. Prospect for what was believed to be a deceased human body.
Officers confirmed that the deceased body was a local homeless Jackson man, identified by officials as 59-year-old Richard Russ.
Detectives from the JPD responded and are investigating the death with the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of death has not been determined yet, and the investigation continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence.
The JPD says their understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed.
